Babyshambles have returned with their new track, ‘Dandy-Hooligan’, marking their first new music in 12 years.
Babyshambles are an English rock band established in London, formed by Pete Doherty (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) during a hiatus from The Libertines.
The band have released three albums — Down in Albion (2005), Shotter’s Nation (2007) and Sequel to the Prequel (2013) — as well as three EPs and a number of singles.
‘Dandy Hooligan’ is loosely based on the escapades of Babyshambles associate Bob Morris, who has served his time in the anti-nazi ranks for many years. The track sees the band lean into reggae and ska-pop influences and drops just in time for their UK reunion tour.
“It’s a well-turned-out, elegantly crafted reggae-ska-pop song… with a sweet melody to bowl along to with your sharpened walking cane,” says frontman Pete Doherty.
Last week, Babyshambles announced they would be releasing a 20th anniversary edition of their debut album Down in Albion.
Due for release on December 12, the remastered and expanded edition will feature session tracks, B-sides and five extra tracks from that era. It will be available on limited edition cream-coloured vinyl, and a blue-coloured vinyl edition will only be available to purchase via the Babyshambles and Rough Trade Records online stores.
