Snowfall occurred on the mountains in Lahaul-Spiti and Manali in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, which has increased the cold in many parts of the state. The minimum temperature recorded in Tabo, Lahaul-Spiti district, was minus 0.7 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest place in the state.

Rain alert in these states
The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for rain in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Karaikal regions. Chennai Corporation (GCC) has started 106 relief kitchens.
A red alert has been issued for six districts of Andhra Pradesh: Prakasam, Nellore, Kadapa, Annamayya, Tirupati and Chittoor. While an orange alert has been declared for Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts.
Meanwhile, IMD has issued an orange alert in 10 districts of Kerala. These include Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
Life affected in many parts of Tamil Nadu
Heavy rains occurred on Wednesday in Chennai, Thanjavur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts. Additional water is being released from Chembarambakkam, Puzhal (Red Hills) and Poondi Dam to prevent flooding in the city.
Passengers faced a lot of trouble due to heavy waterlogging at Villupuram bus stand. Due to heavy rains in Thanjavur and Cauvery Delta regions, paddy crops have been completely submerged. In Mayiladuthurai district alone, approximately 50 thousand acres of crops have been submerged in water.
Due to rain and strong winds, a tree fell on the road in Erode district, leading to a traffic jam. Meanwhile, a mud house collapsed in Cuddalore district.
Rain Alert for Four Days in Odisha
Light rain and thunderstorms are expected in Odisha for the next four days. The Meteorological Department stated that this change is due to two continuously forming low-pressure areas.
On Thursday, rain may occur in Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur districts. Strong winds are also expected in some places.
