Viewers of The Traitors have clocked an unexpected friendship flourished on the cut-throat competition programme – and they’re absolutely loving it.

BBC audiences have been glued to the celebrity version of the hit game show since 8 October, with fresh instalments airing on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9pm.

Presenter Claudia Winkleman selected her Traitors to be funnyman Alan Carr, talk show presenter Jonathan Ross and vocalist Cat Burns in the opening episode.

Whilst the threesome have been working in tandem to evade detection from the Faithfuls, audiences have clocked a lovely connection forming between Alan, 49, and Cat, 25.

The duo’s professional backgrounds could scarcely be more contrasting, with Alan gracing our television screens since the noughties, whilst Cat rocketed to widespread recognition in 2022, reports the Daily Record.

Nevertheless, they appear to have forged a tight-knit friendship during production of the programme. They’ve lately been posting amusing clips on one another’s TikTok accounts, frequently alluding to their positions as Traitors in the BBC programme.

Earlier this week, BAFTA winner Alan uploaded a sketch of himself and Cat preparing for an exhausting day’s graft as Traitors. The 29-second clip, which features Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5’, is captioned: “Being a Traitor is a full time job.”

Prior to that, Cat and Alan posted a video miming to a viral sound combining Nicki Minaj’s chart-topper ‘Beez in the Trap’ and 4 Non Blondes’ well-known track ‘What’s Up?’.

The brief recordings have racked up in excess of seven million views and upwards of a million likes. Their comment sections have been inundated with supporters raving about the “iconic” pairing.

“The producers deserve BAFTAs for putting these two icons together,” one fan enthusiastically declared. Another viewer chimed in: “The duo I never knew I needed until Celebrity Traitors,” while a third agreed: “I love the Alan and Cat duo.”

A different person humorously asked: “Have you two moved in together?” and another commented: “Jonathan third wheeling for sure.”

Some fans have even speculated that Alan and Cat’s appearances in each other’s social media videos might hint at a future plot twist where they betray fellow Traitor Jonathan.

One viewer suggested: “Subtle foreshadowing that you both turned on Jonathan,” and another echoed this theory, writing: “Notice how Jonathan isn’t there cos they’re gonna backstab him and win together.”

BBC viewers will need to keep watching to see if these fan theories hold any weight.
