IOWA CITY — Iowa football received some good news on the recruiting front leading up to its highly anticipated matchup with Oregon.
Class of 2026 four-star quarterback Tradon Bessinger committed to the Hawkeyes on Nov. 8.
Bessinger is ranked 205 nationally in the 2026 high school class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Bessinger is also the 14th-ranked quarterback in the class.
Greg Biggins, a high school and college football recruiting reporter for Rivals and On3, wrote the following about Bessinger:
- Big framed pocket passer pushing 6-foot-5 with plenty of room to fill out and add good weight.
- Has one of the cleanest strokes out West, smooth, easy delivery and the ball jumps out of his hand.
- Generates plenty of velocity with a flick of the wrist and can get it out from different arm angles.
- Most comfortable in the pocket but shows some ability to make throws rolling right or left and has some twitch in his game.
- Two-sport athlete with a basketball background and is fluid in how he moves.
- Shows excellent touch and timing on the deep ball and when combined with his size and arm talent, has one of the bigger upsides of any QB in the region.
Bessinger, who attends Davis High School in Utah, was previously committed to Boise State. He decommitted from the Broncos in late October and then pledged to the Hawkeyes in early November.
The signal caller is listed at 6-foot-5 and 205 pounds.
He is set to join a group of young quarterbacks at Iowa, including Jeremy Hecklinski, Jimmy Sullivan and Ryan Fitzgerald.
