As prologues go, the opening pages of The Dodger: DJ Carey and the Great Betrayal couldn’t cut any quicker to the chase.
Tom Brennan, a Laois businessman and one of the main protagonists as the story unfolded, sat outside a house in an estate on the outskirts of Kilkenny city watching one of the most celebrated hurlers of all time emerge with a dark-haired younger woman and walk up the road.
