Bo Bichette is steadfast in his desire to remain in Toronto.
After the Blue Jays dropped Game 7 of the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night, Bichette was asked about his impending free agency.
And as he’s done all along, Bichette stayed true to the organization that drafted him in 2016.
“I’ve said I want to be here from the beginning,” he said following the Blue Jays’ loss.
Bichette was nearly a Toronto World Series icon after blasting a three-run shot off Shohei Ohtani in the third inning on Saturday night, but a late Dodgers comeback cost the 27-year-old and the Blue Jays a shot at a title.
A two-time all-star, Bichette was kept off Toronto’s post-season roster for its ALDS and ALCS victories as he recovered from a knee injury suffered in early September.
He made it back for the World Series, but was shifted to second base from his usual shortstop to help him return to the lineup.
Bichette ultimately went 8-for-23 in the World Series with six RBIs, carrying a .922 OPS against the Dodgers.
“I’ll remember this group forever,” he said post-game. “I think this group taught me what a team is. I think it’s probably the most valuable lesson in my career, so they mean a ton to me.”
After a disappointing 2024 that saw Bichette battle injury and underperformance, he bounced back with a solid regular-season showing in 2025. In 139 games, he slashed .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs and 181 hits.
