AT&T and T-Mobile change autopay discount requirements
The two wireless carriers have joined Verizon in requiring a debit card or bank account instead of a credit card for their autopay discounts.

A wave of Verizon outages today, Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, have spread across the U.S. including New Jersey and the New York City area, with Verizon customers reporting complete home internet outages, poor or no phone signals, wonky WiFi signals, failed text messages, phones in “SOS” mode and more.
Verizon outages hit overnight, with a peak around 12:30 a.m. across major cities including Chicago and Detroit, with outages impacting NYC areas where outages have impacted areas like NBC Studios at 30 Rock for days, per the company’s “Check Network Status.”
Problems with Verizon’s phone service, Verizon’s Fios 5G home internet, Fios Home Internet, 5G Home Internet, LTE Home Internet, Straight Talk and Visible by Verizon have all been reported by customers on DownDetector.com, which reports real-time outages. Verizon has acknowledged the issue, alerting affected customers that “data, voice, text and wireless home internet” is limited.
