Liverpool have confirmed that their press conference at Deutsche Bank Park to preview Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt has been cancelled. Liverpool head coach Arne Slot and midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai were due to speak to the media from 6.30pm.
However, a statement from the Reds 40 minutes ahead of the scheduled start time read: “Our pre-match press conference for the clash with Eintracht Frankfurt has been cancelled.
“A delay in the squad’s scheduled flight out to Frankfurt, due to technical issues with the aircraft, means the briefing will now not be able to take place.”

The Liverpool squad are being forced to wait at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Reporters had arrived at Frankfurt’s home ground but the press conference will now not take place.
At 7.05pm UK time, The Athletic’s James Pearce, who was previously Liverpool FC correspondent for the ECHO, posted on X: “Plane finally given the green light to take off from John Lennon Airport. Been a delay of around 3hrs. Means LFC squad will be able to land in Frankfurt tonight – local airport shuts at 10pm UK time.”
The eventually took off shortly after 7.40pm UK time.
And Liverpool have confirmed that midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is not part of the travelling Reds squad.
Gravenberch twisted his ankle when challenging Bryan Mbeumo early in the second half of Sunday’s 2-1 home loss to Manchester United and while he initially tried to play on, he was withdrawn shortly after the hour mark.
Slot would confirm after the game that his fellow Dutchman’s withdrawal was a result of his injury and he would be assessed ahead of the trip to Germany.
But Gravenberch was not part of the open training session that took place’s at the AXA Training Centre earlier today.
There was at least better news for Liverpool as Wataru Endo returned to training.
The Japan international missed the defeat to United with a hamstring injury, having also sat out international duty after suffering the issue against Chelsea.
And it has been confirmed that Endo has travelled while Gravenberch has not.
The Reds are looking to avoid a fifth straight loss for the first time since 1963.
Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmoller, son of Klaus who was coach of Bayer Leverkusen when they beat Liverpool in the 2002 quarter-finals, said. “Liverpool are lacking that little bit of energy at the moment, for whatever reason.
“They have been the better team in every game they have played recently and have had the better chances. We will face a world-class team.”
