Australia Women vs India Women preview

Australia have dominated the Women’s Cricket World Cup and they are long odds-on to continue that with a semi-final win over hosts India on Thursday morning.

The Southern Stars have won all six of their completed games at the tournament, including an unlikely success against India in which they successfully chased 330.

India were fortunate to sneak a top-four spot in the group stages after losing three of their six completed games and they have been dealt a hammer blow with an injury to key opener Pratika Rawal.

She is the second-top scorer in this year’s tournament with 308 runs at an average of 51.33 and her partnership with Smriti Mandhana has been the best aspect of a sometimes disjointed Indian line-up.

The same cannot be said for Australia, who have impressed with both bat and ball throughout as underlined by their +2.102 net run rate.

Annabel Sutherland has been a particular standout for the defending champions, taking a tournament-leading 15 wickets and chipping in with some crucial knocks with the bat.

The all-rounder’s unbeaten 98 against England was crucial to Australia’s victory and in total she has 229 runs from her last eight innings for her country at an average of 45.8.

The 24-year-old has had a fair bit of success with the bat against India, with knocks of 45 and 54 not out in her last three meetings.
