Bullying Accusations Dash Marvel Star’s Hopes to Become DCU’s Batman After Ben Affleck

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has lately become a name in Hollywood to enter big franchises. From Godzilla to now being a choice to play the next James Bond, the star has become a prominent figure in the industry. However, some recently resurfaced bullying allegations have proved to be a hurdle in his continuous success, majorly affecting his possible next role in James Gunn‘s DCU.

For those unversed, the actor was a top choice of the DC fans to play Batman. This comes after DCEU’s Ben Affleck had a heavy impact on the fans. What ignited the rumors even more was the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker following Taylor-Johnson on Instagram.

In the wake of Taylor-Johnson’s escalating career, some old allegations have resurfaced online. Per The Statesman, the British actor was allegedly involved in a controversy that dates back to 2012. Case in point, it was when he was filming Oliver Stone’s outing, Savages

In case you don’t know, the film also starred Taylor Kitsch as well as Mexican actress Sandra Echeverria. Per the outlet, back in 2020, Echeverria had taken to social media, describing a horrific experience while filming the 2012 entry.  Not only that, but she even detailed the involvement of Kitsch and Taylor-Johnson.

Per her allegations, the actress accused the John Carter actor and Taylor-Johnson of deliberately revving a truck during a scene. According to The Statesman, she wrote,

“Me being tied feet and hands I could not hold myself up, and they only revved the truck stronger so that I would hurt myself more.”

Her post further read,

“My dad saw everything from afar and was purple from anger. I went down all hurt. I decided not to say anything and hold on, but I hated them. Two proud celebrities were able to do that.”

However, Echeverria cleared the air, stating that Taylor-Johnson apologized later.

While the event had happened way back in the actor’s life, the post gaining traction again may largely affect the Bullet Train actor’s career. The timing is really worse, as many were hoping to see him as the next Batman in James Gunn’s DC Universe.

Now that it is clear that Robert Pattinson’s Batman won’t be an entity in DCU, but under the Elseworlds label, the audience was quick to come up with fan castings.

Interestingly, Taylor-Johnson proved to be a top choice amongst the fans. What ignited the hype was Gunn following the Nosferatu actor on social media. If the rumors are true, it won’t be the first time that Taylor-Johnson has portrayed a superhero character on screen.

Our Thoughts on the Top 5 Actors Who Could Play Gunn’s Batman In the DCU

Now that we have seen a new Superman fly in James Gunn’s universe, it’s time to bring in the Caped Crusader. Looking at the fan castings, we surely think Taylor-Johnson holds a better chance of becoming the next Batman. However, here are the top choices who could play Batman in the DCU.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson

With experience in playing a superhero time and again in many separate outings, Taylor-Johnson may be the next Batman in James Gunn’s DCU. Even if not Batman, the actor may surely join the DCU soon, as Gunn has started following him on social media.

Alan Ritchson

Alan Ritchson is another top contender in the fan casting to play Batman in the DCU. The actor was largely praised for his character in Reacher, which is no less than the Dark Knight. He is huge and muscular and has some good fighting skills.

Jensen Ackles

The seriousness that Jensen Ackles brings with him on screen makes him another top choice to play Batman in the newly rebooted DCU. Meanwhile, his eyes, face, and experience of being a part of Batman’s world cut him through the ranks. For those unversed, he voiced Jason Todd, aka Red Hood, in 2010’s Batman: Under the Red Hood and Batman in Batman: The Long Halloween outings.

Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal is an actor with a variety of titles under his belt. From being the Prince of Persia to playing Detective Loki in Prisoners, Gunn could easily use his skills for the next Batman.

Glen Powell

Why we think Glen Powell would fit perfectly in the DC Universe is because Gunn is exploring new actors and has a colorful theme in his world. Powell’s face cut and the charming atmosphere within will surely suit David Corenswet’s Superman.
