Brad Evans, Who Tormented Pakistan In 2022 T20WC, Sets All-Time Zimbabwe Test Record
In his second-ever Test and his first in two-and-a-half years, fast bowler Brad Evans set an all-time record for Zimbabwe as he bagged a five-fer to help his side bowl Afghanistan out for a paltry 127 in Harare.
Winning the toss and bowling first, Evans (5/22) and Blessing Muzarabani (3/47) wreaked havoc as Zimbabwe bundled out Afghanistan for their fourth-lowest score in Tests and their lowest in six years. In the process, Evans created a unique record as the 22 runs he conceded today are the least number of runs any Zimbabwe bowler has conceded in Test history while taking a 5-fer.
Fewest runs conceded while taking a Test 5-fer (Among Zimbabweans)
5/22 – Brad Evans vs Afghanistan in Harare, 2025
5/27 – Heath Streak vs West Indies in Port of Spain, 2000
5/31 – Travis Friend vs Bangladesh in Dhaka, 2001
5/42 – David Brain vs Pakistan in Lahore, 1993
In a clinical showing, the 28-year-old took 5 of the last 7 Afghanistan wickets to fall. After being well-placed at 77/1 at one point, the visitors lost their last 9 wickets for just 50 runs.
A solid bowling all-rounder, Evans shot into the limelight in 2022 when he starred in the T20WC encounter against Pakistan in Perth.
Zimbabwe won that clash by 1 run, and Evans defended 11 of the last over to seal a thrilling win for his country. He finished with figures of 2/25 and also added a valuable 19 (15) with the bat in hand.
The all-rounder has been plagued by injuries in the last couple of years, but he’s now starting to make a mark in all three formats for Zimbabwe.
