WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, UT. – Welcome to Salt Lake City for Saturday Night’s Main Event, as we see if Drew McIntyre earns the Undisputed championship belt from Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso and CM Punk battle it out for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight title.
Will it be Salt Lake YEET, or is it SLC PUNK that rules the day?
Yes, this is a second night for World Wrestling Entertainment in Utah, and we will find out as we come to you from a full Delta Center (as opposed to WWE SmackDown). Michael Cole and Wade Barrett have the call, and we jump right away to your First Match of the Night, and it is for the…
Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
Huh. That happened pretty quickly, and just as I was arriving at the Delta Center, the big premise of the match is that this was a no disqualification, no countout match, and pretty much anything goes. As Lillian Garcia gives the boxing style intros, we are soon off to the races.

I’d go into more detail, but I was an hour late and a beer short. Needless to say, there were lots of big moves from both men, including this huge bump from Rhodes to the commentary desk.

It takes a few CrossRhodes to finally end this match, so that means…
Your Winner, And Still WWE Undisputed Champion: Cody Rhodes
During what I assume was a commercial break, we see celebrities in the crowd, like Gabriel Luna, Pauly Shore (yay), Tony Hinchcliffe (major boos), and Utah’s own Post Malone enjoying that Utah hospitality.
That leads us to your next title match between..
WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
Recently, Cargill showed off her true colors and made it clear she sought the title that Stratton has held for over 300 days. Some, including Cargill, have suggested that “Tiffy Time” is starting to wind down. As I watched from my seat in the Delta Center, there was a majority of cheers for Cargill when she was on offense, and it goes without saying this is not “Stratton Lake City.”. Big move of the night had the champ nail a Swanton, but she only got a two count. Cargill ramps up the intensity as she not only connects with multiple powerbombs, but a Jaded finishes off Stratton for good. So that means…
Your Winner, And New WWE Women’s Champion: Jade Cargill
Fans loved this, including a “You de-serve it!” chant. Personally, I think this will be great to see.
I wonder how Naomi will feel after this.
Either way, let’s move on to your next match, which is a…
Triple Threat Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Penta vs. Rusev
The Utah crowd gives a big pop to Penta on his entrance music, and why not? After all, today is Dia De los Muertos, and the fans show “Cero Miedo” to the man wearing LA Dodger colors, which leads to this…
(Author’s Sports Report: As I type this, the Toronto Blue Jays are ahead of the Dodgers 4-3 at the end of the eighth inning. Why should I care? I have a couple of reasons. To start: I hate Drake, and so my inner Kendrick Lamar kicks in. On the other side, I do believe a win by a Canadian team will send a certain New Orange Order into a fury that will be just epic.)
Oh, right. You’re here for wrestling. Well, I can say that after Penta’s entrance, there is tremendous heat for Mysterio, and Rusev is just… there. In any case, Penta and Rusev each want their pound of flesh from Dirty Dom, and Mysterio is th quintessential chickens*** heel, even as the fans chant, “Dirt-y… Dirty Dom!” The big moment arrives as Rusev locks Penta in the Accolade camel clutch, and the bell rings, making him think he has won it.
However, ask not for whom the bell tolls. It tools from Dirty D.

Penta grabs the bell hammer (which makes me wonder if the Booker Monkeys™ are really paying attention to AEW storylines of late. Also, how does PAC feel about them stealing his gimmick?)
He swings and clocks Rusev, and Mysterio sends Penta out of the ring and rolls up Rusev for the tainted win.

Now, for the Main Events, and everyone involved in the SLC is clamoring for the…
WWE World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk vs. Jey Uso
Welcome to “Salt Yeet City”, Uce.
That is, unless other fans in the area have grown up SLC PUNK (which is a damn fine movie.)
Once again, Lillian Garcia provides the boxing-style intros, and as soon as the bell rings, they get down to business. Fans are split between “Yeet/C M Punk” chants until they finally settle into “Jey, you suck” as Punk gets more steam going for him.
Punk hits a GTS, and barely gets a two count, while Jey uses the same move. Punk shows how it’s done, but still gets a near fall. Jey comes from behind with a sleeper as Punk counters to an Anaconda Vice. But Jey has the wherewithal to find the bottom ropes to break the submission. The end comes as Punk puts Uso down after two GTS’ as the ref counts the one, two, and three.
Your Winner, and New WWE World Heavyweight Champion: CM Punk
Once again, Punk has gold around his waist as Jey is definitely dejected about coming up so short again as the show closes out.
