This Morning fans said ‘what a mess’ as Alisson Hammond admitted ‘we need to fess up’ after the show’s Halloween special suffered technical difficulties.
Alison has been fronting the ITV programme with Dermot O’Leary all week as Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley enjoy time off from the programme for half-term.
On Friday (October 31), the pair marked Halloween by airing a special edition of the talk show, full of costumes and special effects.
The episode began with a pre-recorded intro which saw Alison being informed by Dermot that she was running late for the show.
Holding a pocket watch, Dermot resembled the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland as Alison tried to chase him and catch up.
Seeing him go through a rabbit hole, Alison was pulled into the hole and travelled through a portal as the show’s usual opening credits were given a spooky twist.
Fit with a new version of the show’s theme song, it was revealed that the episode was titled ‘Alison in Wonderland’.

After this, a group of professional dancers emerged as a host of This Morning stars were dressed as characters from CS Lewis novel.
With Ashley James and Gyles Brandreth dressed as Tweedledum and Tweedledee, along with Josie Gibson portraying The Caterpillar, things quickly took a turn.
Viewers took to X, previously known as Twitter, after being left confused when the cameras cut to a screen with a countdown before the title music began playing again.
@afashionoddity said: “not #thismorning spending their annual budget on extravagant Halloween titles and a full.” @IamKaleid added: “‘Thank you to our wonderful dancers’ who we didn’t see dance because a runner tripped over a cable #thismorning.”
@henriksen1 wrote: “Haha. The intro for the Halloween special on #ThisMorning broke down. Must have been a scary moment for them. The irony.” @maryzgreenway posted: “What a load of bloody rubbish #thismorning.”
@Jordon_22 commented: “Well someone tripped over the cable and unplugged it! #ThisMorning.” @mdbaggy noted: “All that effort and it went off, brilliant #ThisMorning.”
Later on in the episode, Alison and Dermot, who were dressed as Alice and The Mad Hatter, addressed what happened, with their grand entrance not being seen.
“We need to fess up about something, we really do. We had this huge number planned for the start of the show. Some Gremlins got in the way,” Alison said.
Taking a jab at This Morning chef Phil Vickery, Dermot added: “I blame Phil ‘Cheshire Cat’ Vickery.”
Alison noted: “You naughty cat Phil. Were you at the cable? Is that where he was? You pulled it, you naughty cat.”
Eventually playing a clip of the full routine, Dermot joked that it ‘turned out’ that they ‘weren’t that good’ after going to the effort of playing it.
