A flight was diverted to Logan International Airport in Boston after a man was accused of stabbing two minors with a metal fork while on a flight.

Authorities said Indian national Praneeth Kumar Usiripalla, 28, stabbed two minors while on board a Lufthansa flight from Chicago to Germany.

According to charging documents, on Saturday, Oct. 25, Usiripalla allegedly stabbed a 17-year-old boy in the shoulder area with a metal fork.

Officials said he then stabbed a second 17-year-old boy in the back of the head with the same fork.

One of the boys said he was sleeping when he woke to see Usiripalla standing over him.

According to police, Usiripalla stabbed him and then stabbed the second boy.

Flight crew members attempted to subdue him. Officials said Usiripalla then raised his hand, formed a gun with his fingers and pulled an imaginary trigger.

He is then accused of turning toward a passenger and slapping her with his hand.

Usiripalla is also accused of attempting to slap a flight crew member.

The flight was then diverted to Logan International Airport in Boston.

Police took him into custody.

Officials said Usiripalla was previously admitted into the United States on a student visa.

Police said he was enrolled in a master’s program in biblical studies.

According to officials, Usiripalla currently does not have lawful status in the United States.

He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm while traveling on an aircraft.

Usiripalla is scheduled to appear in federal court in Boston at a later date.
