DeMar DeRozan Fantasy Outlook: Should You Draft the Sacramento Kings Small Forward This Year?

It’s the final weekend before the NBA regular season begins, which means you’re coming here for your fantasy basketball drafts.
Should you draft DeMar DeRozan this season? Here’s the latest outlook, projections, and rankings for the Sacramento Kings Small Forward.
Should You Draft DeMar DeRozan in Fantasy Basketball?
While not the flashiest name in fantasy basketball, DeMar DeRozan quietly remains one of the league’s most consistent scorers. Despite still not possessing a stable 3-point shot, the midrange assassin has averaged 20-plus points a night for 12 straight seasons, including his first with Sacramento (22.2 ppg).
DeRozan should benefit from the Kings adding Dennis Schroder over the offseason to fill some of the playmaking void left by De’Aaron Fox’s trade deadline departure. DeRozan has become remarkably efficient over the latter half of his career, shooting above 47% from the field in seven consecutive campaigns, most recently posting a 47.7% mark. The six-time All-Star’s durability for his age (36) also boosts his fantasy value, having played in at least 74 contests in four straight seasons.
Still, coming off another year of modest long-range shooting (1.1 3pg) and defensive production (0.8 spg and 0.4 bpg), DeRozan’s fantasy ceiling is capped, especially in category leagues. As such, he makes more sense as a target in the late 40s to early 60s in standard formats.
