The Timberwolves continue their West Coast swing in LA after defeating the Trail Blazers in Portland (118-114) in their season opener. Anthony Edwards delivered a superstar performance in the first game of his sixth NBA season, scoring a game-high 41 points on 14-of-28 shooting from the floor, 5-of-10 from 3-point range and 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Minnesota closed strong, too, with 30 points while holding Portland to 19.
The Lakers faced a big test in their opener against the Golden State Warriors with LeBron James opening the season benched with sciatica. Luka Doncic dropped 43 on Steph Curry and company and Austin Reaves added 26, but the Lakers were unable to find enough scoring beyond their Big 2 in a 119-109 loss. Early wins will help the Lakers weather the storm, but they are 3.5-point underdogs and could face early scrutiny in the event of suffering their second straight loss.
The Lakers and Timberwolves are set for a 10 p.m. ET start exclusively on Prime Video, which comes with a free trial for new users.
