Ice Chips: Blues’ Kyrou reportedly a healthy scratch vs. Buffalo

St. Louis Blues

Forward Jordan Kyrou is expected to be a healthy scratch when the St. Louis Blues take on the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, Blues television analyst Joe Vitale told 101 ESPN St. Louis.

Kyrou, 27, skated 16:43 during Wednesday’s 6-1 loss to the Washington Capitals, recording two shots with a minus-2 rating.

The 6-foot-1 centre has four goals and eight points in 14 games this season but hasn’t recorded a point in four games.

Kyrou led the team with 36 goals last season to go along with 70 points in 82 games.

St. Louis sits in last place in the Central Division with a 4-8-2 record, three points behind the Minnesota Wild.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators are projected to use these lines when they take on the Boston Bruins on Thursday:

Anaheim Ducks

Lukas Dostal will get the start in net on Thursday against the Dallas Stars, confirmed head coach Joel Quenneville.

Dostal, 25, is looking for his fifth straight win and has a 6-3-1 record this season with a 2.59 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.

Boston Bruins

Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo will look for his third straight win when the Bruins go up against his former team in the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

Korpisalo, 31, was acquired along with forward Mark Kastelic and a draft pick from Ottawa in June of 2024 in exchange for goalie Linus Ullmark.

The 6-foot-4 netminder has a 3-3-0 record this season with a 3.49 goals-against average and .882 save percentage.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes activated defenceman K’Andre Miller of injured reserve on Thursday.

Miller, 25, missed the team’s last six games while dealing with a lower-body injury.

The 6-foot-5 left-shot defenceman was acquired from the New York Rangers in July in exchange for defenceman Scott Morrow and two draft picks.

Miller has two goals and four points in six games this season while averaging 23:32 of ice time.

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets recalled forward Luca Del Bel Belluz from the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters on Thursday and placed defenceman Erik Gudbranson on injured reserve.

Gudbranson, 33, missed the team’s last five games while dealing with a hip injury. He has appeared in four games this season, averaging 14:51 of ice time.

Del Bel Belluz, 21, was drafted 44th overall by the Blue Jackets in 2022 and appeared in 15 games last season, recording two goals and eight points.

The 6-foot-1 centre has three goals and five points in seven games in the AHL this season.

Dallas Stars

Forward Jamie Benn participated in the team’s morning skate on Thursday prior to their game against the Anaheim Ducks.

Benn, 36, has yet to play this season while he is recovering from a collapsed lung prior during training camp.

The 6-foot-3 captain had 16 goals and 49 points in 80 games last season.

Detroit Red Wings

Forward Patrick Kane skated on Thursday as he continues to recover from an upper-body injury, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.

Kane, 36, has missed the team’s last nine games with then injury.

Head coach Todd McLellan said after practice that Kane felt good on Thursday and the team will decide on Friday if he can return to the lineup for their game against the New York Rangers, according to team reporter Daniella Bruce.

The 5-foot-10 winger last appeared during the Red Wings’ 2-1 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Oct. 17 where he recorded two shots on 17:42 of ice time.

Kane has only appeared in five games this season, recording two goals and five points.

Minnesota Wild

Forward Mats Zuccarello joined the Wild on their two-game eastern road trip and participated in Thursday’s morning skate prior to their game against the Carolina Hurricanes, according to Joe Smith of The Athletic.

Zuccarello, 38, hasn’t appeared this season while dealing with a lower-body injury sustained during training camp. The Wild updated his condition on Oct. 31 expecting him back within a week.

Smith added that Zuccarello will not be in the lineup against the Hurricanes on Thursday but is a possibility to play on Friday against the New York Islanders.

The 5-foot-8 winger recorded 19 goals and 54 points in 69 games last season.

Daemon Hunt is expected to make his season debut for the Wild on Thursday, according to Smith.

Hunt, 23, was claimed off waivers from the Columbus Blue Jackets last season and appeared in one game with the Wild.

The 6-foot-1 left-shot defenceman appeared in nine games for AHL Iowa Wild last season, recording four assists.

Filip Gustavsson is expected to be in net on Thursday.

The 6-foot-2 netminder has a 4-6-1 record this season with a 3.11 goals-against average and .900 save percentage.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils may see the return of forward Cody Glass on Thursday as they take on the Montreal Canadiens.

Glass, 26, missed the team’s last seven games while dealing with an upper-body injury.

He participated in Thursday’s morning skate on the third line in between forwards Ondrej Palat and Arseny Gritsyuk.

The 6-foot-3 centre has two goals in six games this season.

Winger Connor Brown was not on the ice Thursday morning as he’s missed the team’s last two games with an undisclosed injury.

Brown joined the Devils in the off-season as an unrestricted free agent and has five goals and six points in 11 games.

New York Rangers

Forward Vincent Trocheck and defenceman Urho Vaakanainen will join the Rangers on their road trip to take on the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, according to head coach Mike Sullivan.

Sullivan said that both Trocheck and Vaakanainen will make the trip to Detroit, but he said Trocheck definitely won’t play. #NYR

Sullivan added that Trocheck will not play against the Red Wings.

Trocheck, 32, has only appeared in two games this season while he’s dealing with an upper-body injury.

The 5-foot-11 centre returned to practice on Monday in a non-contact jersey.

Trocheck had 26 goals and 59 points in 82 games last season.

Vaakanainen, 26, missed Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes with a lower-body injury.

The 6-foot-2 left-shot defenceman has an assist in 10 games this season while averaging 14:53 of ice time.

Philadelphia Flyers

Dan Vladar will be in net on Thursday when the Flyers take on the Nashville Predators.

Vladar, 28, joined the Flyers as an unrestricted free agent in the off-season.

The 6-foot-5 netminder has a 5-3-0 record with a 2.33 goals-against average and .912 save percentage this season.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Arturs Silovs will be in net on Thursday when the Penguins take on the Washington Capitals.

Silovs, 24, is expected to pick up the load in net with netminder Tristan Jarry out three weeks with a lower-body injury.

The 6-foot-4 netminder has a 3-2-2 record this season with a 2.66 goals-against average and .913 save percentage.

Head coach Dan Muse also told reporters that forward Filip Hallander is out day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.

The 6-foot-1 centre last appeared during the team’s 4-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday where he skated 12:24 with a minus-2 rating.

Hallander has a goal and four points in 13 games this season.

The Penguins recalled forward Joona Koppanen from the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Thursday.

Koppanen, 27, appeared in 11 games with the Penguins last season, recording a goal.

The 6-foot-5 winger has a goal and two points in six AHL games this season.
