Bundesliga weekend predictions, odds & best tips: Bayern should continue to cut loose

The Bundesliga season is only seven matches old, but Bayern Munich have already established a five-point lead, and appear to be in ominous goalscoring form.
Borussia Monchengladbach are the latest team tasked with the unenviable job of stopping them on Saturday afternoon, while the pick of Sunday’s action comes from the BayArena, where Bayer Leverkusen will bid to bounce back from a 7-2 Champions League humbling at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

Werder Bremen vs Union Berlin
Kick-off: 7.30pm Friday
There looks a strong chance there could be plenty of goals in this one. There have been at least three in six of Werder Bremen’s eight Bundesliga outings this term and the same could be said of five of Union Berlin’s games, including last week’s 3-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Prediction: Over 2.5 goals
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayern Munich
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Free-scoring Bayern Munich bagged another four goals against Club Brugge on Wednesday night and are set for a big win against the Bundesliga’s basement boys, Borussia Monchengladbach. The Bavarians have won all 12 games this term and ten of those have featured at least four goals.
Prediction: Bayern to win & over 3.5 goals
Eintracht Frankfurt vs St Pauli
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Frankfurt have lost three of their last four but those defeats have come against Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, so they should find things easier against St Pauli, who have lost four in a row. The hosts are leaking goals, though, so back the visitors to grab a consolation.
Prediction: Frankfurt to win & both teams to score
Augsburg vs RB Leipzig
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Leipzig have lost just one of their last nine Bundesliga visits to Augsburg and they have won five of their last six matches in the league. Their last three away games all ended with under 2.5 goals, however, so they may struggle to cut loose on their travels this weekend.
Prediction: Under 2.5 goals
Hamburg vs Wolfsburg
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Wolfsburg have made a miserable start to the Bundesliga season, slipping down the table after four straight defeats. They have scored only one goal during that losing streak and should be opposed when they travel to Hamburg, who are chasing a third win in four home fixtures.
Prediction: Hamburg
Hoffenheim vs Heidenheim
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Hoffenheim have lost their first three home matches in this season’s Bundesliga but they should be backed to break their duck against struggling Heidenheim. The visitors have lost all three of their away fixtures, only scoring once, and they are unlikely to improve their road record on Saturday.
Prediction: Hoffenheim
Borussia Dortmund vs Cologne
Kick-off: 5.30pm Saturday
Borussia Dortmund’s only defeat this season came against champions Bayern Munich and they eased to a 4-2 Champions League victory in Copenhagen on Tuesday. A straightforward home win with a clean sheet should be on the cards for BVB against Cologne this weekend.
Prediction: Borussia Dortmund to win to nil
Bayer Leverkusen vs Freiburg
Kick-off: 2.30pm Sunday
Bayer Leverkusen were on the wrong end of a 7-2 drubbing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in midweek, but they should emerge on top in a high-scoring meeting with Freiburg. The hosts have won four of their last five Bundesliga matches, but they’ve kept just one league clean sheet this season.
Prediction: Leverkusen to win & both teams to score
Stuttgart vs Mainz
Kick-off: 4.30pm Sunday
Stuttgart suffered a 1-0 Europa League loss at Fenerbahce, but they’re on a roll in the Bundesliga, winning five of their last six domestic fixtures. While Mainz saw off Zrinjski Mostar in the Conference League, they’ve lost their last three in the league, conceding ten goals. Back Stuttgart.
Prediction: Stuttgart
