Cast tensions boil over at Selling Sunset Season 9 event

Chrishell Stause and Chelsea Lazkani were intentionally left off the guest list for a Season 9 celebration organized by their castmate
An intentional exclusion
The drama from Selling Sunset is spilling off screen and into real life as tensions among cast members reached a boiling point at the Season 9 premiere celebration. Chrishell Stause and Chelsea Lazkani found themselves on the outside looking in when their fellow castmates gathered for a party at Gravitas in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night, and sources close to the situation confirm the absence was no accident.
Netflix did not host an official premiere party for the new season, but castmate Bre Tiesi took matters into her own hands by organizing an event with other members from the hit real estate reality series. The guest list, however, notably excluded the 1. Chrishell and 2. Chelsea, a decision that appears rooted in ongoing conflicts between different factions within the cast.
Keeping the peace at a price
Those familiar with the planning process revealed that Tiesi wanted the celebration to highlight what she considered a great season for the show. Event organizers ultimately decided against inviting Stause or Lazkani because of brewing tensions between them and other cast members including Tiesi, Emma Hernan and Mary Bonnet.
The reasoning behind the exclusion centered on maintaining a positive atmosphere throughout the evening. Organizers wanted to avoid any potential confrontations or uncomfortable situations that might arise from having all cast members in the same space given their current relationships. Tiesi apparently prioritized keeping everyone comfortable and happy over having complete cast representation at the gathering.
The party went ahead with attendees including Tiesi, Hernan, Bonnet, Amanza Smith and newcomer Sandra Vergara. When photographers asked who had been the messiest during Season 9 filming, Tiesi’s response suggested lingering frustrations with certain castmates, though she did not elaborate on specific incidents.
A pattern of declining invitations
This is not the first time invitation dynamics have caused issues among the cast members. Sources indicate that Tiesi has previously demonstrated willingness to include both Stause and Lazkani in social gatherings, having extended invitations to them for a Galentine’s Day party earlier in the year. However, both women chose not to attend that event, a decision that played out on camera during the latest season of the real estate focused show.
The history of declined invitations may have influenced the decision to exclude them from the Season 9 premiere celebration. If previous patterns suggested they would not attend regardless of receiving an invitation, organizers may have felt little incentive to extend one for this particular event.
The other side of the story
Representatives close to Stause confirmed she was not invited to Wednesday’s party but emphasized there was zero chance she would have attended even if organizers had included her on the guest list. At the time of the celebration, Stause was in New York fulfilling promotional obligations for the show, making attendance logistically challenging regardless of any interpersonal tensions.
Sources indicate that both Stause and Lazkani remained unaware that the premiere party was even happening, though they likely would not have made appearances even with advance notice given the current state of their relationships with certain cast members.
One notable exception
Nicole Young also did not attend the Beverly Hills gathering, though her absence stemmed from different circumstances entirely. Unlike Stause and Lazkani, Young did receive an invitation to the premiere celebration but could not find time in her schedule to make it to the event. Her absence represented a scheduling conflict rather than an intentional exclusion or personal choice to avoid castmates.
What this means for the show
The divided cast and selective socializing raise questions about what viewers can expect when Season 9 begins streaming. If tensions between cast members have reached the point where they cannot comfortably attend the same parties, the on-screen drama will likely reflect those genuine conflicts and strained relationships.
For a show built on showcasing both luxury real estate and interpersonal dynamics among its cast, these real-world rifts could translate into must-watch television as alliances shift and confrontations unfold throughout the season.
