First Alert Forecast: frontal systems to bring more rain chances, keep dangerous Melissa away

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Cool, blustery clouds will bring additional rain chances of 40% Tuesday night, 40% Wednesday, 50% Wednesday night, and a fleeting 20% Thursday. Following these rain fronts: enjoy mainly dry skies, crisp breezes, and comfy temps for Halloween Friday and November’s first weekend, but be alert for increased rip current activity as Hurricane Melissa cruises well offshore.
Category Five Hurricane Melissa made landfall early this afternoon along the southwest coast of Jamaica as the strongest hurricane on record for the country. Total destruction of structures are expected near the storm’s core along with a massive storm surge and flooding across much of the country. Melissa will strike portions of Cuba and the Bahamas over the next 24 hours.
