Three-time NBL champion and Brisbane Bullets star import Casey Prather joined Jason Cadee on the latest edition of ‘Cut to the Jase’ to break down the franchise’s up and down season in NBL26.

From shutting down criticism of coach Stu Lash, to addressing supposed ’emergency meetings’, injuries to key players, his own career-best form and his belief in how the current Bullets roster can still achieve something special – nothing was off limits as Prather joined the basketball.com.au podcast ahead of the team’s Sunshine Stoush clash with the Cairns Taipans on Thursday night.

The 34-year-old forward, who started his career with the Perth Wildcats for the 2015-16 season, is averaging career-high stats of 24.3 points per game along with 6.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists in eight games in NBL26 for the Bullets.

Having won three championships in a row from 2016-2018 with the Wildcats and Melbourne United, Prather also starred in Europe as the Israeli League MVP in 2021 before several knee injuries almost brought an end to his decorated career.

Prather opens up about how he almost hung up the boots before a call from then Bullets coach Justin Schueller turned everything around.

The former Florida Gators college basketball standout then returned to Australia for the second half of the 2023-24 season before spending the entire offseason getting his body right in Australia, leading to an NBL25 season where he earned All-NBL Second Team honours.

Prather also gives an update on his application to become an Australian resident, much like five-time NBL MVP Bryce Cotton did recently.

With Australian NBA star Josh Giddey being coached by Prather’s former Gators coach in Billy Donovan, he also speaks about what makes the Hall of Fame coach special.
