Charlotte Church wore a bright green chunky knit cardigan during the latest episode of Celebrity Traitors – and the ‘wearable bedding’ trend is one we can get on board with

During the latest episode of Celebrity Traitors, Charlotte Church was seen keeping snug in the Highlands, donning a chunky green knit that’s just perfect for the chilly weather. This cosy cardigan comes from independent brand Hope Macaulay, which handcrafts each piece in Northern Ireland.

It’s become a hit with celebs like Billie Piper, Gigi Hadid and Jennifer Hudson – even Tom Daley, who’s also braving the Traitors castle alongside Charlotte, has been spotted wearing one. The thick knit cardi is one of Hope’s most iconic designs, the Zola Colossal Knit Cardigan (£380), available in sizes six to 18.

Each one is hand-knitted by one of the brand’s local knitters in Northern Ireland, and even comes with a label stating the name of the person who created it.

If you’ve ever wished you could stay wrapped up in your favourite blanket while heading out into the cold, then this cardigan is made for you. It’s the ultimate “wearable bedding” style – far more stylish than your average hooded blanket – and we’re absolutely convinced it’s a trend that’s set to take off.

The same ultra-thick wool and weave pattern featured in the chunky knit throws for your bed or sofa, like the Living and Home 100x120cm Chunky Knit Blanket (£21.50 down from £36) or the Dazzluxe 200x200cm Chunky Knit Blanket Throw (£104), is also seen in this piece. This is a step up from comfy co-ords that look like pyjamas but could still be worn to the office, and similar to duvet-style quilted coats. After all, who doesn’t want to feel like they’re in bed all the time?

Hope Macaulay’s colossal knits are almost impossible to replicate, so it’s rare to find an affordable lookalike anywhere. However, ASOS does stock the Bailey Rose Open Knit Bright Green Stripe Cardigan (£29.50, was £56) which is just as bright and colourful with a similar weave, but in a smaller, more understated knit style.

Alternatively, you could shop the NastyGal Extreme Stripe Loopy Cardigan (£57, was £95) which has a chunky weave and large balloon sleeves with a loop design to add some movement and a fringe-style finish. It also comes in a bold pink and red colour that brings some colour and joy to a dreary autumn day, reports the Mirror.
