FSAI recall for undeclared allergen

An urgent recall has been made for some popular Aldi treats due to an undeclared allergen within the product.

The recall is being made due to the undeclared presence of peanuts. All batches and all best before dates of Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s, pack size: 121g, are being recalled from Aldi stores. The alert was made today on Halloween (October 31).

The product is unsuitable for those who are allergic to or intolerant of peanuts. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland says consumers with a peanut allergy should not eat the product.

The warning sayd: “Peanuts may be present in all batches of Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s however they are not declared in the list of ingredients. This may make the product unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of peanuts and therefore, these consumers should not eat the implicated product. The affected product is being recalled from Aldi stores.”

This latest recall comes after some other Halloween treats were recalled. A mispacking error for Rose Halloween Spooky Tea Cakes which are sold in Irish supermarkets including Lidl and Aldi were mispacked with Rose Orchard Tea Cakes.

That product contains egg, and as a result the ingredient is not mentioned on the label. The mislabelled teacakes are therefore unsuitable for those who are allergic to or intolerant of eggs.

The batches include the best before dates: 28/08/26, 18/09/26, 22/09/26 and 24/09/26.
