PSG star Hakimi injured by red-card tackle from Diaz

PSG fullback Achraf Hakimi may have suffered a serious injury after a nasty tackle that saw Bayern Munich star Luis Díaz sent off on Tuesday.

The Colombia forward scored a first-half brace in the high-profile Champions League match at Parc des Princes, giving Bayern a 2-0 lead by the 32nd minute.

But the attacker’s night was marred by an ugly challenge just before halftime. Hakimi was dribbling away from Díaz near the sideline, and the attacker recklessly went in with a two-footed tackle from behind that saw Hakimi’s ankle roll up underneath him.

After a VAR review, referee Maurizio Mariani produced a straight red card for Díaz.

Hakimi, meanwhile, had to be subbed off and was helped from the pitch without putting any weight on his left leg. The Morocco international was in tears as he departed the field.

Per Opta, Díaz became just the second player to score twice and be sent off in a UEFA Champions League match.

It was a disastrous half for PSG, which also had to sub off Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé in the 25th minute with an injury.
