FOOTBALL – Coventry City are ‘best side in division’ according to Portsmouth boss John Mousinho

JOHN Mousinho has branded Coventry City as the ‘best side in the division’ ahead of Portsmouth’s clash with the Sky Blues in the Championship.
The Pompey boss heaped praise on Frank Lampard’s side with Portsmouth due to host Coventry at Fratton Park tonight.
Coventry suffered a 4-1 defeat on the South Coast last season in what was Lampard’s fifth game in charge of the club.
However, the Sky Blues head into this season’s fixture top of the table, unbeaten in their first 10 league matches.
And Mousinho wants his players to embrace the challenge facing his side and believes Coventry have threats all over the pitch.
Mousinho said: “We have to make sure we keep competing with the best sides in the league because that’s what we’re now facing twice in the space of a few days, with Stoke also coming here.
“There have been some real positives for us, but Coventry will have a completely different approach and will present their own unique challenges.
“They are the best side in the division, flying high at the top of the table, undefeated and the top scorers.
“So there’s absolutely no point in singling out any individuals because they have threats all over the pitch.
“We need to be defensively solid and get the press right in all areas of the pitch, but it’s a test we should embrace.
“The message is to be positive and look to attack with plenty of intent. We’ll get forward with purpose, while trying to get the balance right.”
Coventry are next in action against Portsmouth on Tuesday, October 21 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Fratton Park.
