More rain in Carolinas forecast ahead of Halloween

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – After a rainy, nasty day Monday, the forecast won’t improve much over the next couple days across the Carolinas.
Expect more rain and chilly temperatures through midweek before things will dry out before Halloween.
Rain to continue Tuesday, Wednesday
Rain will continue through the morning hours Tuesday before tapering down to spottier showers for the afternoon. Clouds won’t break, and the chilly, gusty breezes will continue all day long.
Afternoon temperatures on Tuesday will only inch back up into the lower 50s around Charlotte. Spotty showers will continue during the evening, with temperatures close to 50 degrees before falling into the middle 40s overnight.
Showers Wednesday morning will turn into a steady rain Wednesday evening and continue — heavy at times — overnight before tapering down around daybreak on Thursday. Highs Wednesday will only recover to the middle 50s.
In the tropics, incredibly powerful Category 5 Hurricane Melissa, with top winds at near 175 mph, is just south of Jamaica and will cross the island Tuesday with devastating effects. Moving northeast from Jamaica, the storm will then cross Cuba Wednesday morning, the Bahamas Wednesday afternoon and then head out to seas well offshore of the United States.
Tuesday will be another rainy day across the Carolinas with highs only making it to the lower 50s in Charlotte.(WBTV First Alert Weather)
Halloween forecast
Once this last storm system clears out, sunshine will return Thursday afternoon and hold for Friday — Halloween — as well.
Highs Thursday will get back to near 60 degrees before improving to the middle 60s on Friday. Halloween evening will be dry and chilly with temperatures falling from the 50s to the 40s by late evening and upper 30s by daybreak Saturday, when patchy frost may form.
Saturday will be mostly sunny before a few more clouds drift in on Sunday. Highs both days will be in the mid-60s.
Melissa is forecast to hit Jamaica as the island’s strongest storm ever recorded.(WBTV First Alert Weather)
