‘The opposite’… Ruben Amorim reveals what he has been feeling in Man Utd training sessions this week

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is in a good moment and does not want it to end.

With three wins in a row, Manchester United are in a moment of rare serenity amid the chaos that has often followed the team around.

October and November have frequently been problematic for the club. This was the time of year Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag both lost their jobs.

An inconsistent start to the 2025/26 season had many Manchester United fans fearing a repeat could be coming with Ruben Amorim.

Three successive wins have calmed any anxiety around Amorim’s job, and given Manchester United a fresh sense of purpose and direction.

Ruben Amorim wants more

Ruben Amorim says he is not relaxed about his current situation, and instead of easing up, it has simply made him want more.

Speaking to club media: “I felt during the week not that feeling of ‘we won some games, let’s relax’, it was the opposite: more confidence, more joy but at the same time more pace, more intensity and that was a very good feeling.”

Winning is an intoxicating feeling, especially at Manchester United, where there is a huge appetite for success, in the fanbase and behind the scenes.

Amorim warned that United would experience a period where they would ‘suffer’, and it seemed to go on forever.

But he knows this club is only one defeat away from a crisis, and cannot afford to get at all complacent.

United fixtures

Manchester United have two more fixtures before the international break, facing Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur away from home.

United lost both these matches last season. In fact Amorim has faced both teams a combined five times and suffered defeats in all of them.

He oversaw home and away defeats to Forest last season, and three losses to Tottenham, one in the league, one in the Carabao Cup and another in the Europa League Final.

That should provide plenty of motivation for the head coach. These are games Manchester United must win.
