Adelaide weather forecast for Thursday December 18th and the days ahead

Adelaide is in for a scorcher, with hot sunshine today giving way to more comfortable temperatures, a brief chance of showers, and a cooler, breezier weekend change, according to the Bureau of Meteorology’s latest forecast.

Today is shaping up to be a hot and sunny one, with temperatures soaring to a high of 39 degrees. The morning begins at a warm 22 degrees before heating up quickly under clear skies. With no rain expected and a moderate fire danger rating in place, it’s a day to stay hydrated, avoid the midday sun where possible, and be mindful of extreme UV levels.

Tomorrow brings a noticeable cooldown, with mostly sunny skies and a much milder maximum of 29 degrees. The day will start at 22 degrees, with light winds shifting throughout the day and no rain expected, making it a far more comfortable option for outdoor plans.

Saturday continues the settled summer feel, with a sunny day forecast and temperatures ranging from a cool 14 degrees in the morning to a pleasant top of 27 degrees. While most of the day will remain dry, there is a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the evening.

Sunday sees conditions turn more unsettled, with cooler air moving through and showers likely, particularly during the morning. Temperatures will sit between 17 and 25 degrees, with gusty westerly to southwesterly winds and the chance of a thunderstorm early in the day.

The new week begins on a calmer note, with Monday bringing cloud clearing and a comfortable maximum of 24 degrees after a cool overnight low of 14. Winds will remain light to moderate, and rain is not expected.

Tuesday stays steady, with partly cloudy skies, a minimum of 13 degrees and a top of 24 degrees. A slight chance of a shower lingers, but most of the day is expected to remain dry.

Christmas Eve rounds out the forecast with more mild summer conditions. Wednesday will be partly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from 12 to 25 degrees and light winds throughout the day.

The broader weather pattern shows a trough of low pressure moving across South Australia through Friday and Saturday, before a ridge of high pressure re-establishes itself on Sunday, helping deliver cooler and more settled conditions into next week.

Happy Thursday!
