Ange Postecoglou Celtic Return Addressed

Former Celtic defender Greg Taylor has given an honest response to speculation linking Ange Postecoglou with a potential return to Parkhead.

With Brendan Rodgers’ contract due to expire at the end of the season and uncertainty surrounding the club’s direction, some supporters have called for the Australian to make a comeback, but Taylor isn’t getting drawn into the debate.

The Scottish left-back, who left Celtic in the summer after six trophy-laden years, worked closely with both managers and enjoyed some of his best football under Postecoglou. The pair developed a strong understanding during Ange’s two seasons in charge, as Taylor thrived in the inverted full-back role that became a hallmark of that era.

Postecoglou has since endured a tough period in England, leaving Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year before a short-lived spell at Nottingham Forest. Despite that, his name continues to carry weight among Celtic supporters who still remember his attacking football and treble-winning season fondly.

Taylor, now playing with PAOK in Greece, was asked about the growing fan sentiment and gave a typically grounded reply, praising both managers while refusing to get involved in speculation about what might come next at Celtic Park.

Taylor said: (Scottish Football Social Club), “Jesus! I don’t even know where to start with that. There are so many hypotheticals there.

“Right now, Brendan’s the manager and doing an amazing job.

“Who knows what will happen at the end of the season.

“A guy who I’ve got so much respect for.”

Taylor’s answer summed up the professionalism he always showed at Celtic. He knows how much fans still admire Postecoglou, but his message was clear, the focus has to stay on the present, just as Brendan Rodgers has been saying during what’s been a difficult spell.

His comments also showed the respect he has for both managers. Postecoglou helped him develop his game and reach a new level, while Rodgers brought structure and calm in his second spell.

Taylor clearly values what each of them gave him, but he was quick to stress that Rodgers is the man in charge now and deserves that backing.

For Celtic, the ongoing talk about the manager’s position shows how tense things have become after recent results. With Rodgers’ future uncertain and the club searching for form, it’s no surprise Postecoglou’s name has come up again given the success he delivered.

Taylor’s calm response won’t end the debate, but it’s a reminder of the standards both managers set at the club, and how quickly things can turn when results dip.

For now, Rodgers remains in charge, and the focus will be on how he and the players respond to get Celtic’s season back on track.
