Jade Cargill captured the WWE Women’s Championship by defeating Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The result marks Cargill’s first singles championship in WWE.
Stratton attempted to jump Cargill at the opening bell, but Cargill quickly turned the tables, landing a pair of pump kicks and a chokeslam.
Cargill continued the assault, hanging Stratton in a tree of woe in the corner and targeting her knee. The action moved outside, where Cargill sent the champion into the ring steps. Stratton managed to reverse the momentum, dodging a charge and sending Cargill crashing into the steps herself.
Back in the ring, Stratton hit a Swanton Bomb from the top rope for a near fall.
Cargill regained control with a series of power moves, including a spinning sit-out powerbomb and a fallaway slam. After delivering several more powerbombs, Cargill hit her “Jaded” finisher to secure the pinfall victory.
The win concludes Stratton’s title reign, which began in January when she cashed in her Money in the Bank contract. Stratton had previously defeated Cargill in a title defense at SummerSlam.
