With the Mariners’ hugely-anticipated Carabao Cup last-16 game just days away, the trophy itself will be making a special appearance in Grimsby this weekend. The “exclusive event” is taking place at Currys, at High Point Retail Park off Victoria Street, on Sunday.
The Carabao Cup – aka the English Football League Cup – will be on display offering supporters “a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with one of football’s most iconic prizes”. The event is being put on thanks to a partnership between Sky and Currys.
A spokesperson said: “Following Grimsby’s unforgettable victory over Manchester United — a historic moment broadcast live on Sky — this collaboration celebrates the town’s football spirit and Sky’s commitment to bringing fans closer to the action.”
The cup will be on display from 10.30am with photo opportunities available. There will also be “exclusive deals” on offer from Sky “for both new and existing customers”.
A Sky spokesperson said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for fans to celebrate Grimsby’s football achievements and explore the latest in Sky technology. We’re proud to partner with Currys to bring this experience to the local community.”

Grimsby Town welcome Premier League side Brentford to Blundell Park on Tuesday evening with the game kicking off at 7.45pm. The Mariners have overcome Shrewsbury Town, Manchester United and Sheffield Wednesday to make it to round four of the Carabao Cup for the first time since the 2001/02 season.
The Mariners are the only fourth-tier side left in the competition and one of only five teams outside of the Premier League still in the cup.
