New trailer released for Nate Bargatze’s 2026 film ‘The Breadwinner’

Comedian Nate Bargatze bumbles, stumbles and fumbles his responsibilities as a dad in the 2026 comedy “The Breadwinner.”

The new film, also starring Mandy Moore, Colin Jost and Zach Cherry, is scheduled to be released March 13.

A new trailer for the film has been released depicting Bargatze as a car salesman trying to raise three daughters while his wife is trying to start a business.

“I’m the top salesman at the dealership,” his character says in the trailer. “I think I can handle a month alone with the girls.”

Then, of course, the minute his wife (Moore) leaves, chaos ensues. Getting the kids in the car for school becomes a monumental task. Overseeing a remodeling project at the house is a nightmare. The laundry is almost too much for a never-before-paid attention dad. He has trouble scrambling eggs.

“This isn’t the 1950s,” his character says. “Dads stay home all the time.”

Bargatze co-wrote the screenplay for “The Breadwinner” with Dan Lagana.

The film appears to fall into the classic category of idiot dad comedies. “Mr. Mom,” “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Three Men and a Baby” and “Daddy Day Care” are just a few. Bargatze hopes to join Michael Keaton, Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, John Travolta and others as stars who have cashed in on acting overwhelmed … only to gain connections with their families in the end.

“She makes it so easy, but it’s so hard,” Bargatze says.

It has been an incredible year for Nashville’s Bargatze. He has seen the world on his “Big Dumb Eyes” comedy tour. He hosted Saturday Night Live. He was a guest on “College Gameday,” the Saturday football show. He hosted the Emmy Awards.

Bargatze plans to host a game show and open an amusement park in Nashville in the future.

He has been called “the nicest man in standup,” and he has parlayed that reputation into a business venture called “Nateland Experiences.” Teaming up with Storyland Studios, a Southern California-based firm specializing in themed entertainment architecture and design, Bargatze’s group is studying the feasibility a theme park in Nashville.

“Nate and Nateland are committed to good, clean, family-friendly entertainment. We live in middle Tennessee and recognize the need for a major attraction for people of all ages in the Nashville area,” said Nateland Entertainment CEO Felix Verdigets.

The research is supposed to be finished in the first quarter of 2026. After that, the Nateland Experiences team plans to begin looking for potential investors.
