According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, Pinto’s new contract has a 10-team no-trade clause in years three and four.

Senators general manager Steve Staios said on Monday that he was confident the two sides would reach an agreement and he planned to sit down with Pinto’s agent, Lewis Gross, to continue to talk about an extension.

“Shane is an important player for us,” said Staios on TSN 1200. “We’ve been there for him along the way and watched him develop within the group. I do feel comfortable we’ll get something done.”

The Sens already have forwards Tim Stützle and Dylan Cozens, as well as defenceman Jake Sanderson, signed through the 2029-30 season, while Brady Tkachuk, Ridly Greig and Linus Ullmark also have multiple seasons remaining on their current deals.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the season, tallying eight goals and six assists for 14 points in 18 games so far this season while playing a career-high 19:23 of ice time per game. He had 21 goals and 37 points in 70 games last season.

He is in his sixth season with the Sens after being selected in the second round (No. 32 overall) during the 2019 NHL Draft.
