Man dies after falling from Disney cruise

A Melbourne man has died after going overboard a Disney Cruise ship travelling to Auckland.

In a statement, Victoria Police confirmed a report will be prepared for the coroner following the death of a 73-year-old man from Moonee Ponds, an inner-city suburb of Melbourne.

“It is understood the man died after he jumped from a cruise liner into waters in the Tasman Sea on Saturday about 4.30am,” a police spokeswoman said.

His body is yet to be discovered.

Victoria Police are not treating the man’s death as suspicious.

7 News reports passengers on board the Disney Wonder ship noticed the ship had turned around in a bid to find the passenger.
