More November rain: Flash flood watch issued for Las Vegas

Get ready for another round of rain in Las Vegas.

A flash flood watch has been issued for the valley, starting at 10 p.m. and lasting until 4 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.

The watch affects Southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and eastern California.

A storm system is moving in late tonight, the agency said, “with areas of heavy rain spreading across much of the Mojave Desert and Northwest Arizona. Embedded thunderstorms are also expected, which may produce locally heavier rainfall. Combined with the wet soils from the weekend storm system, storm run off will happen quickly and may lead to rapid flooding of sensitive basins.”

Also, the Spring Mountains are under a winter storm warning, starting tonight and lasting through Wednesday morning.

The agency said the mountains are expected to receive between five and 10 inches of snow above 7,000 feet, 10 to 16 inches above 8,000 feet and 16 to 24 inches above 9,000 feet.

The Sheep Range north of Las Vegas is expected to get between five and 10 inches of snow above 7,000 feet and 10 to 16 inches above 8,000 feet.

On Saturday, a storm brought the wettest Nov. 16 on record to Harry Reid International Airport. The airport recorded 0.65 inches of rain, topping the previous daily record of 0.52 inches, set in 1964.
