Good evening, and welcome to live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur vs Fulham, as Thomas Frank’s side look to build on the positives from their midweek trip to Paris Saint-Germain and end a run of three Premier League games without a win.
Spurs delivered an abject display as they were thumped 4-1 in the north London derby last weekend, with their summer target Eberechi Eze bagging a hat-trick for Arsenal. It extended their winless run in the league after drawing with Manchester United and suffering a defeat against Chelsea, either side of the November international break.
Spurs produced a combined expected goals (xG) of just 0.12 in the two losses against their London rivals, so there was reason for optimism in their spirited performance away against PSG on Wednesday. Despite ultimately being beaten 5-3, Frank’s men showed a much-improved attacking intent and limited the European champions to few chances before their flurry of second-half goals.
But the disappointing run in the league means they came into this weekend down in ninth, three points adrift of the top four. They did start the day six places and four points ahead of their opponents this evening, with Fulham occupying 15th spot in the league coming into the latest round of action.
However, after a run of four consecutive defeats in the league, there are signs of improvement for Marco Silva’s men, with two wins in their last three. The west London side put three past Wolves at the start of the month and, following a defeat against Everton, clinched a 1-0 win over Sunderland last time out thanks to Raul Jimenez’s late strike.
Fulham will also take confidence from their recent record against Spurs, having gone unbeaten in the last three league meetings between the sides, and winning two of those, including a 2-0 victory at Craven Cottage when they last faced each other in March.
