PACBI calls for global pressure on Live Nation over Israel ties · News ⟋ RA

  • The organisation has urged the industry to exert strategic pressure on the world’s largest live events company.
  • The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) has issued a public call for sustained pressure on Live Nation Entertainment.

The BDS-affiliated organisation issued a statement yesterday, December 9th, citing what it describes as the global events company’s “deep complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

PACBI urged Live Nation to drop its Israeli operation, Live Nation Israel, adopt unified ethical programming policies across its global network and operate in line with PACBI and BDS guidelines. The group is also calling on Live Nation-owned and affiliated venues and festivals to publicly pressure the parent company and adopt independent ethical standards.

Live Nation Israel, which formed after Live Nation acquired a majority stake in Israeli promoter Bluestone Entertainment, has promoted numerous high-profile concerts in Israel over the past decade. PACBI also cited a statement by Live Nation Israel in which the subsidiary expressed solidarity “with the residents of Israel, IDF fighters and the security forces.”

The campaign lands amid broader scrutiny of Live Nation’s business practices. The world’s largest live events company is currently facing antitrust action in the US from the Department of Justice and multiple state attorneys general over alleged monopolistic behaviour following its merger with Ticketmaster.

PACBI has called on artists, workers and audiences to back its demands through boycotts and public advocacy. In previous years, several major artists—including Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey and Shakira—have cancelled planned shows in Israel following public pressure.
