Philadelphia are not good. They’re now also down their two best trench players, Lane Johnson and Jalen Carter.
AJ Brown is sick of being in Philadelphia, Saquon Barkley looks like he’s never played football before, and Jalen Hurts continues to wonder why nobody likes him. It’s a total hot mess.
And yet, they’re still functional enough to beat average teams. The Cowboys’ loss was horrific, but they were 21-0 up in that game. The Bears’ run game is the best in the NFL. Before that, they beat the Lions and the Packers, both of whom I suspect will be making the playoffs regardless of their divisional battle.
This is a classic example of things feeling far worse in Philadelphia than they actually are. It wouldn’t be like them to be dramatic, of course.

There is no doubt in my mind that AJ Brown will fail to score a touchdown in this game. Three touchdowns in the last two games? It can’t go on like this, because then what would he complain about?
The Eagles are best when targeting weak points in the opposition defense, and they can get Smith isolated by lining Goedert up in the slot, meaning Derwin James takes him on.
That leaves Cam Hart with Brown, but Smit’s move from the Z receiver position will be the difference-maker against Tarheeb Still, who has looked a touch slower than he did in 2024.

Neither team can run the ball effectively inside the tackles. There’s going to be a lot of stalled drives, particularly as Justin Herbert cannot play the full run of snaps in this game – he’s got a broken right hand.
So, if they can’t use any of their cheat codes, the QB sneak or the TE tush push, then their game plan is limited to shotgun runs and shotgun passes. It’s the weak point of Greg Roman. The Chargers will know this game won’t hit 40 points, and the Eagles have only hit the 40-point mark once in their last four.
Keenan Allen, over 3.5 receptions
Keenan is the only player who gets open based on his own intuition. His telepathic connection with Herbert is what keeps things rolling, and given that Herbert will be so concerned with taking hits, expect his eyes to follow Allen time and time again.
The Eagles tend to run a lot of zone blitzes on third down. Watch Allen occupy those spaces and have his low-yardage, high-reception-type game once more.
