Issues with Spotify appeared to spike shortly after 9:30 a.m. EST, with nearly 32,000 reporting issues with the music platform at the time, according to DownDetector.
The number of outage reports lowered by 10:10 a.m., with more than 5,000 users experiencing issues.
Most of the problems (80%) were reported with Spotify’s app, while 11% of complaints addressed issues with logging in and 9% experienced website issues.
Spotify said in a statement it was “seeing reports about users having login and playback issues” with the platform across multiple platforms, noting the company’s “tech folks are looking into this.”

With more than 713 million users, including 281 million subscribers, Spotify remains the most popular music streaming platform in the world. Several outages have been reported for Spotify this year, including a widespread, hours-long outage in April when the company denied the issues it experienced were the result of a server hack. The platform was down again in June when Cloudflare, an internet services provider, experienced issues, causing several companies—including Google, OpenAI and Spotify—to receive outage reports.
