1. It’s Michelin season again, and changes are afoot
🏆 This year’s Michelin ceremony takes place on Nov. 3 in Greenville, SC, home to the French tire company’s North American headquarters. 2025 brings big changes for the guide, rebranded as the Michelin Guide to the American South.
The new regional guide to the southern United States now includes restaurants in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee, along with the previously released Atlanta guide.
But, the 2025 guide to the South does not include Georgia restaurants outside of Metro Atlanta, an especially glaring omission for the state’s other celebrated dining scenes in Athens and Savannah. Beyond Athens and Savannah, however, are thousands of mom-and-pop restaurants scattered throughout Georgia in cities like Macon, Columbus, Augusta, Albany, Brunswick, and Valdosta.

2. ‘Downtown Day’ highlights businesses, investments ahead of World Cup
⚽ Central Atlanta Progress and the City of Atlanta are hosting “Downtown Day” today – an all-day and all-night celebration – to showcase the energy, innovation, and investment shaping Downtown Atlanta’s future.
The event, which lasts from 9:30 a.m.-1 a.m., will highlight the work being done to develop the Downtown area ahead of next year’s FIFA World Cup and celebrate the businesses making up the neighborhood.
🪡 The festivities kick off with an update on The Stitch, the 17-acre project reconnecting Downtown with a ¾-mile platform spanning the I-75/85 Connector between Ted Turner Drive and Piedmont Avenue. At 9:30 a.m., visitors will be able to immerse themselves in augmented reality visuals of the future project and take a live walking tour of the planned park.
