NFL Scouts Reportedly Think LaNorris Sellers Could Transfer to Miami, Forgo Draft

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers is an intriguing NFL draft prospect, but some feel that he could use another year of seasoning.
During Thursday’s episode of The McShay Show, NFL draft expert Todd McShay revealed that NFL scouts feel that Sellers would forgo the draft and return for another season of college football.
“There’s a strong opinion in NFL scouting circles… with LaNorris Sellers, he will be back in school next year, he absolutely needs to…,” McShay said around the 18:00 mark. “… Everyone is supporting the concept of, he needs another year in college. And there are people in his camp who are in agreement, is what I’m told.”
If Sellers chooses to stay in school, there’s a chance that it won’t be with the Gamecocks. McShay added that scouts said “there’s some programs out there lurking,” and he named Miami as a potential landing spot for the redshirt sophomore.
While McShay made it clear that there was no improper contact or collusion between Miami and Sellers, he explained that the Hurricanes are developing a reputation for helping transfer quarterbacks reach a new level. He pointed to the success of Cam Ward, who went on to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, and current starter Carson Beck, who had a strong start to the season before his recent struggles.
B/R’s Brent Sobleski listed Sellers as the No. 8 quarterback in the 2026 draft class in his latest big board, so it would be wise for the youngster to continue his development before jumping to the NFL. However, it sounds like there’s now a question of which uniform he will be wearing if he stays in college.
