The Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k are on Saturday. What to know

Runners from across the world will flock to downtown Indy on Nov. 8 to run the annual CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, half marathon and 5k.
The race is one of the country’s biggest marathons, popular in part because of its flat course and proximity to other major midwestern cities.
Its start location has been moved to West Street, just south of Maryland Street, for the first time this year. Runners will finish near the intersection of Washington Street and Capitol Avenue.
Monumental Marathon Race schedule Nov. 8, 2025
- 6:30 a.m.: Gear check opens, Washington Street & West Street. Runners must use the official clear bag provided at the expo.
- 8 a.m.: Half and full marathon start time, West Street & Maryland Street
- 8:40 a.m.: 5k start time, West Street & Maryland Street
- 3:30 p.m.: Cutoff time
Road closures
The 26.2-mile course winds around downtown but also reaches as far north as Broad Ripple, and roads path the course will be closed for runners’ safety.
Downtown and areas to its south and west will be restricted for at least part of the day. The longest-lasting closure will be at the finish line, near Capitol Avenue and Maryland Street, lasting from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
A color-coded map of all restrictions is available on the marathon’s website.
Race day weather
The National Weather Service predicts fantastic running weather for race day: partly sunny with a high of 60 degrees. A calm wind of up to 6 mph will begin in the afternoon.
Expo info and packet pickup
Runners are invited to the Indiana Convention Center for a Health & Fitness Expo between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 7.
Race participants can pick up their bibs, shirts and gear bags. The event’s also open to the general public looking to browse more than 50 vendors of running and fitness gear.
A speaker series beginning 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 7 will feature advice physical therapists, elite athletes and coaches.
Spectator info
You can track your family and friends using the 2025 CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon mobile app, available from the App Store and the Google Play Store. The app also has maps and schedules.
If you’d like to give runners encouragement as they pass by, race organizers suggest posting up at Riverside Park, which is at about the 20-mile mark. A suggested route that accounts for road closures is available on the marathon’s website.
The city’s bike trail system intersects with the race course at several points if you want to follow along while getting in some scenic views.
And if you’re in the market for a sweet treat while you watch the race, the Monumental Marathon has paired up with four official “cheer stop partners” to offer food and drink specials and poster-making stations. Those locations are Blue Mind Coffee on East 38th Street, Command Coffee on North College Avenue, Hoagies & Hops on Boulevard Place and Howdy Homemade Ice Cream on North New Jersey Street.
