The Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) has issued a ‘Watch and Act’ alert, saying the blaze is expected to impact Bezzants Road, Crawlers Gully Road, Nugent Road and surrounding areas.
“The fire is expected to be difficult to control,” the TFS said in its alert.
“Embers, smoke and ash may fall … and threaten you and your home before the main fire. Smoke and ash may make it difficult to see and breathe.”
Firefighters from the Tasmania Fire Service are on scene, supported by crews from Sustainable Timber Tasmania.
“If you have made a bushfire plan, check it now,” the TFS said.
“Decide early if you are going to leave and make sure you have a clear path to a safer place.”
“If you are not prepared for a bushfire, leave for a safer place. If you stay, your home may not be defendable.”
“The best option is to stay with family or friends. Only travel if it is safe for you to do so.”
