Loose Women fans have been expressing identical sentiments after Ruth Langsford was notably “absent” from the programme’s most recent live broadcast.

Presenter Christine Lampard was accompanied by panellists Denise Welch, Brenda Edwards and Frankie Bridge for Monday’s (November 3) special edition of the ITV daytime show, which was devoted to the programme’s Facing It Together initiative.

With research indicating that one in four women and one in seven men will experience domestic abuse during their lives, the initiative seeks to spotlight the support available to those enduring domestic abuse and the crucial methods by which friends and relatives can recognise warning signs or assist loved ones experiencing domestic abuse.

Whilst Christine disclosed that the team had distributed posters nationwide to promote the initiative, several ITV watchers found themselves questioning Ruth’s whereabouts.

Posting on X, previously Twitter, one viewer wrote: “I wonder where Ruth is? She was in the audience of Strictly on Saturday night. #loosewomen.”, reports the Mirror.

Another commented: “Lampard in charge on #Loosewomen today, Ruth mustn’t be available then as she used to host Mondays and Tuesdays.”

A third individual remarked: “What’s happened to the lovely Ruth Langsford? We don’t see her nearly enough. I miss her… especially on a Monday. What are you playing at ITV? ? #loosewomen.”

This follows Ruth suggesting uncertainty regarding her future after ITV revealed proposals to eliminate over 220 positions, including reductions to her programme, Loose Women. The daytime programme represents just one of several broadcaster shows facing alterations, as it’s scheduled to air for 30 weeks rather than 52, accompanied by staffing reductions.

During an exclusive chat, Ruth, who presents the ITV panel show whilst also working on television shopping channel QVC, revealed: “I never have a plan, because I don’t decide if I work or not.

“I think people should know by now what I’m good at, what I do, 30-odd years of doing it, so I’m always open to suggestion.

“I’ve done all sorts of things, obviously, outside ITV as well. And I love working, I’ve no plans to retire anytime soon.”

Following the announcement of ITV’s modifications, managing director of ITV’s media and entertainment division Kevin Lygo explained: “Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust, as well as generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.

“These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever.”
