Avalanche sign Martin Necas to eight-year, $92-million contract extension

The Colorado Avalanche signed Necas to an eight-year extension on Thursday that will keep the forward under contract through the 2033-34 season.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the deal is worth $92 million, carries an $11.5 million AAV and includes a full no-move clause through the first seven years of the deal.
Necas, 26, was acquired by the Avalanche from the Carolina Hurricanes as part of the three-team deal that sent Mikko Rantanen to Carolina in January. In the 30 regular-season games that followed, Necas scored 11 goals and 28 points.
In 11 games to begin this season, Necas has seven goals and 13 points while averaging 21:15 of ice time.
Necas was selected 12th overall by the Hurricanes at the 2017 NHL Draft and has since played 452 NHL games.
