Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie named as player ‘threatened with a gun’ by agent

Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League footballer who was allegedly threatened with a gun during a row with a football agent.
Udogie started for Tottenham in Tuesday night’s Champions League game against Copenhagen and has been supported by the club since the incident took place on the evening of Saturday, September 6.
A Tottenham spokesperson said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
Udogie played for Spurs just a week after the row, coming off the bench in the 3-0 win away at London rivals West Ham United.
The agent, 31, was arrested after an alleged late-night confrontation with Udogie and a family member on a busy street near restaurants. Telegraph Sport understands the row escalated after the player chose not to use the agent’s services.
Police were called to the scene shortly after 11pm on September 6. Nobody was injured but the agent, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at his home later.
The suspect, who has previously worked with players at international level, has been questioned over allegations of blackmail and driving without a licence in addition to a firearm offence.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: “Police were called at 23.14hrs on Saturday, September 6, to reports a man in his twenties had been threatened with a firearm on Cockfosters Parade, Barnet.
“Officers spoke to the victim and during the course of their investigation it was also reported another man in his twenties had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual. No injuries were reported in either incident. A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday, September 8 on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.”
Udogie joined Tottenham for around £17.6m from Udinese in 2022 and the left-back has made 12 appearances for the Italian national team. It was in Italy that he was first identified as the Premier League footballer who was allegedly threatened with a gun, ahead of Tottenham’s confirmation.
