Larry Lamb: ‘I’m happily single now – it’s too late for the ladies’

6pm
The kids might be around, though it’s rare we’re all together at the same time. George has left TV presenting and is into the whole regenerative farming thing now, so he has a busy life. I miss working with him, but he’s very good, he’ll drop by a couple of times a month. We’ll sit around and have a chat, chop up a bit of salami and a few olives.
7pm
I’ll knock up some pasta with an old straightforward, family-style, Italian tomato sauce that an old friend of mine taught me 45 years ago. My kids love it, it represents home. I’m very definitely a happily single man these days. I’m just an old bachelor boy. It’s too late for the ladies, those days are happily over.
8pm
I’m about to finish watching The Night Manager. I don’t sit down seeking out what’s on the telly tonight, I mostly stream history films and documentaries.
9pm
I read until 10.30, then the lights are off. I’m not a bad sleeper – but not like when I was young when I’d get a steady seven hours every night, without fail.
All Wrapped Up by Larry Lamb, published by Softwood Books, is out now. Larry is touring bookshops and festivals in the UK until December 2.
