To ensure the safety of both workers and the public, the works would be carried out under a road closure, split into two phases, the authority said.
During phase one – 27-29 October – access between Gillshill Road and James Reckitt Avenue via the roundabout will be closed to traffic. There will also be two-way temporary traffic signals.
Motorists are advised to follow the diversion using Ings Road, or Lambwath Road, to gain access to Sutton Road/Cavendish Road and the north end of Gillshill Road.
The roundabout will be fully closed to traffic for final resurfacing between 29 and 31 October.
The same diversion route applies, the council said.
Access for residents and businesses would be maintained, and pedestrian access would not be affected by the closure, a spokesperson added.
Bin collections were also scheduled to continue as normal, with access to emergency vehicles granted at all times.
However, scheduled bus services would not be able to access the stop located near the roundabout during the road closure.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure, said: “These essential works on James Reckitt Avenue will significantly enhance the condition of the road for all users.
“It’s important for our residents that we minimise the disruption caused by roadworks as much as possible, so I welcome the phasing of the work during the October half-term when traffic is lighter.
“We thank residents and motorists for their patience whilst we carry out these essential works.”
