High school soccer: WHS boys, Beaver River, Copenhagen, Lowville girls teams each seeded second in sectionals

Four teams from the Frontier League, the Watertown boys and the Beaver River, Copenhagen girls squads, garnered No. 2 seeds for the Section 3 soccer tournaments which get underway this week.
In Class AA, the Watertown boys are seeded second on the strength of a 14-1 record, including a 10-0 mark in winning the league’s Division I title.
The Cyclones, who have won 14 straight games since losing their season opener, receive a first-round bye and will host either seventh-seeded Central Square or 10th-seeded Oswego in a quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Watertown High School.
In Class A, South Jefferson (11-4) is seeded third and Indian River (9-7) garners the No. 4 seed.
The Spartans, who reached the sectional final in Class A last year, receive a first-round bye and will host either sixth-seeded Central Valley Academy or 11th-seeded Homer in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. on Friday.
The Wolves will host fifth-seeded Chittenango in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Lowville (10-5-1) is seeded fourth in Class B and has the opportunity to host two playoffs games, first by hosting No. 13 seed Canastota (3-12-1) in a first-round game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
General Brown (3-12-1) is seeded 14th and will play at third-seeded Cazenovia in a first-round game at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 15th-seeded South Lewis (6-10) will host 16th-seeded LaFayette/Onondaga in preliminary round game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
In Class C, Thousand Islands (10-4-2), the league’s Division II winner, is seeded ninth and travels to play at eighth-seeded Sauquoit Valley at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and No. 13-seeded Sandy Creek (3-11) will play at fourth-seeded Westmoreland/Oriskany at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, both in preliminary-round games.
Lyme (13-2), which finished second in the league’s Division III, is seeded fifth in Class D and will host 12th-seeded Cincinnatus in a first-round game at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
League Division III champion Sackets Harbor (12-3-1) is seeded ninth and will host eighth-seeded Belleville Henderson (11-2-1) at the same time on Wednesday, also in the first round.
Also in Class D in the first round on Wednesday, 10th-seeded Copenhagen (12-4) will play at seventh-seeded DeRuyter at 3 p.m. and 14th-seeded LaFargeville (6-10) will play at third-seeded Poland at 6 p.m.
On Tuesday, 16th-seeded Alexandria will host No. 17 seed Immaculate Heart Central at 3 p.m. in the preliminary round.
In girls soccer, league division champions Copenhagen, Beaver River and Lowville, are seeded second in their respective classes.
Copenhagen (13-2-1), which won last year’s sectional title in Class D en route to reaching the state championship, went 9-0-1 in league play to win the Division III crown.
The Golden Knights will host 15th-seeded Madison in a first-round game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and with a win will get the opportunity to host another playoff game.
Such is also the case for fourth-seeded LaFargeville (12-4), which reached the sectional semifinals last year, and will host 13th-seeded Town of Webb at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
Also in the first round on Tuesday, sixth-seeded Sackets Harbor (12-4) will host 11th-seeded Oriskany at 3 p.m., eighth-seeded Immaculate Heart Central (7-7-2) will host ninth-seeded Poland at 6 p.m., 10th-seeded Lyme (6-9-1) will play at seventh-seeded Remsen and 12th-seeded Alexandria (3-13) will play at fifth-seeded DeRuyter at 3 p.m.
Beaver River (11-3-2), which also generated an unbeaten 9-0-1 record in the league, will host 15th-seeded Utica Academy of Science at 6 p.m. on Thursday in a first-round game in Class C and with a win would also host a quarterfinal. The Beavers reached a sectional final in Class C two years ago.
Also from the league, Sandy Creek (5-9-1) is seeded 14th and plays at Mount Markham in the first round, also at 6 p.m. Thursday.
In Class B, Lowville (12-3-1) will host either 10th-seeded South Lewis or seventh-seeded Clinton in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
The Red Raiders forged a 7-2-1 record in league play to claim the Division I crown.
South Lewis (5-9-2) will play at Clinton at 6:30 p.m. and eighth-seeded General Brown (4-12) will host ninth-seeded Canastota at 7 p.m., in both first-round games on Tuesday.
Watertown (7-8-1) is seeded fourth in the Class AA field and will host fifth-seeded Whitesboro in a quarterfinal at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in a quarterfinal.
In Class A, Carthage (11-4-1) is seeded seventh and Indian River (11-5) is seeded eighth and both will host a first-round game on Tuesday.
The Comets will play 10th-seeded Mexico at 5:30 p.m., the Wolves will take on ninth-seeded Central Valley Academy at 6 p.m. and also from the league, 11th-seeded South Jefferson (4-9-2) will play at sixth-seeded Homer at 5 p.m., also on Tuesday.
