The Mavericks dropped their second straight game to begin the season on Friday, a 117-107 decision to the Washington Wizards. They managed to cut a 17-point deficit to four points in the fourth quarter, but weren’t able to get any closer.
Anthony Davis registered his second straight double-double, producing 27 points and 13 rebounds, while Cooper Flagg scored 11 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Mavericks. The group shot just 29.4% from 3-point range, compared to 41.7% for the Wizards.
After winning their season opener, the Raptors fell 122-116 to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday behind a 31-point, 20-rebound effort from Giannis Antetokounmpo. The lead changed hands twice in the fourth quarter, while the score was tied five times.
Brandon Ingram led the Raptors with 29 points and six rebounds, RJ Barrett had 20 points and six rebounds and Immanuel Quickley added 19 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Ingram notched the second-highest scoring performance by a Raptors player in a home debut.
The Raptors and Mavericks are meeting for the first of two matchups this season. The Mavericks swept the season series last year, 2-0, and have won three straight against the Raptors overall.
